Happy 60th Birthday NHS
Mobilis would like to wish the National Health Service (NHS) a very Happy 60th Birthday.
Since its creation in 1948, the NHS has made constant developments in patient care and has been responsible for saving millions of lives.
The NHS is a crucial service in many people’s lives. It is estimated that 2.3 million people visit their GP surgery or practice nurse each month with a further 1.4 million receiving help in their home every week from the NHS.
Overall, men and women live an average of 10 years longer than they did before the NHS was formed.
Various events are taking place throughout the week to mark this special birthday. A website went live on 1st July archiving material charting the history of the NHS through a timeline which health secretary Nicola Sturgeon thinks is a fascinating story.
Learn about the birth of the NHS and its remarkable achievements over the past 60 years.
